TWO INDICTED IN CONNECTION WITH MADISON COUNTY BANK ROBBERYBIRMINGHAM, AL - An indictment was filed today in U.S. District Court charging IKEITRICK TERRELL CARTER and LEBARRY LACY with the bank robbery of Regions Bank in Madison County on April 11, 2006. It is alleged in the Indictment that CARTER and LACY, both 21, of Madison County, entered the Regions Bank and robbed the Bank of approximately $21,700. It is further alleged that Defendants CARTER and LACY assaulted and put in jeopardy the life of another person by the use of a dangerous weapon. Additionally both are charged with carrying a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime, which carries an additional penalty of not less than 7 years in prison. The penalty for bank robbery is not more than 25 years and a fine of $250,000. Currently, both CARTER and LACY are in police custody. This matter was investigated by the Huntsville Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney David H. Estes is prosecuting this case on behalf of the U.S. Government. Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government's burden to prove a defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. |
