Office FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 23, 2006 WOMEN BANK ROBBERS PLED GUILTY BIRMINGHAM, AL - NATASHA LEE BYRDSONG and DAYSHA DALPHINA KING have pled guilty today in connection with robbing a Wachovia Bank Branch on Oporto Madrid Boulevard in Birmingham, Alabama the day before Thanksgiving, 2005. BYRDSONG, 23 and KING, 19, both of Birmingham were indicted May 2006. According to the plea agreements entered in the Court record, BYRDSONG entered the Wachovia Bank and presented the teller with a note demanding money. A bank teller gave her approximately $4500. BYRDSONG then fled in a getaway car driven by KING. Fortunately, BYRDSONG was recognized by bank employees as someone that had worked a different Wachovia Bank branch. Agents quickly tracked the women down and recovered all the stolen money. “Bank robbery is not tolerated, agents will track you down, and you will be prosecuted,” states U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin. “These young women will face the consequence for their actions in robbing a financial institution.” Both women could receive a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for December 15, 2006 at 9:30 am before United States District Judge Karon O. Bowdre. Both women remain on bond restrictions pending their sentencing hearings. This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Birmingham Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Michael W. Whisonant is prosecuting this case on behalf of the U.S. Government.
