Office FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 24, 2006 PINSON MAN RECEIVES 70 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT FOR TRANSPORTATION FOR SEX INVOLVING A MINOR CHILD BIRMINGHAM, AL - DARREN VINCENT GESE was sentenced today in U.S. District to 70 months imprisonment for violation of a federal statute in the transportation of a minor child for illegal sex. “Mr. Gese is one of many on-line predators roaming the internet today. But his capture and prosecution is an immeasurable success because every sexual predator who is incarcerated represents the incalculable: one, two or maybe dozens of children that have been protected, who can continue to have a safe and innocent childhood,” said U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin. GESE, 34, of Pinson, Alabama, was indicted in March 2006. He pled guilty to the charge in May 2006. According to the documents filed in Court GESE met a female on the internet. He learned that the female was a minor from New Jersey and continued to communicate with her via the internet and telephone. GESE and the minor female talked about having sex and exchanged nude photos. GESE learned that the minor female was traveling to Pensacola, Florida for a horse show and made arrangements to travel from his Alabama residence to meet her. On or about February 24, 2006, while in Pensacola, GESE and the minor engaged in sexual activity. GESE was subsequently arrested. "I encourage parents to continually monitor the online activity of their children and be vigilant for sexual predators who may be attempting to target their children through social networking web sites,” states Carmen S. Adams, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation. "Any suspicious activity involving a possible sexual predator should immediately be reported to the FBI or your local police department." This matter was investigated by the Special Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney E. Vincent Carroll prosecuted this matter on behalf of the U.S. Government.
