MAN INDICTED FOR ROBBERY OF
NORTH ALABAMA BANK
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Antonio Lawshawn Drake, 21, has been charged in U.S. District Court, with bank robbery of the North Alabama Bank in Madison County, Alabama. The indictment is announced today by U.S. Attorney, Alice H. Martin and Special Agent in Charge, Carmen S. Adams, Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Drake entered the bank with a weapon and took approximately $9,438.00 in cash. He was arrested shortly after the robbery by an Alabama State Trooper. He remains in police custody.
“This young man now faces twenty-five years in prison,” stated U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin “Robbing a bank is a quick ticket to a prison cell.”
The case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Alabama State Troopers and local law enforcement. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David H. Estes.
“I thank the alertness and quick apprehension of my law enforcement partners in their capture of Drake,” stated Carmen S. Adams, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Members of the public are reminded that an indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
