LEEDS MAN ARRESTED BY TAMPA FBI VIOLENT CRIMES TASK FORCE
Birmingham – FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Carmen S. Adams announced that
Kenneth Manley Wright, 62, of Leeds, Alabama was arrested without incident last night in Tampa, Florida by members of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force. Wright was wanted in connection with a 1997 hit and run accident involving a Bessemer, Alabama Police vehicle, wherein the Bessemer Officer was injured. Wright fled the scene of the accident.
In November 1997, a federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) complaint was filed in Birmingham and a warrant was issued. Subsequent investigation revealed that Wright was in the Tampa, Florida area.
Wright is currently being held in the Pasco County, Florida jail. Extradition will be determined by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Bessemer Cutoff Division.
SAC Adams thanked the Tampa Division of the FBI and the members of both the Birmingham and Tampa FBI Violent Crimes Task Forces for their efforts in this matter.
