FBI AND ANNISTON POLICE SEEK INFORMATION ON AMSOUTH BANK ROBBERY

Birmingham – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Carmen S. Adams announced that Amsouth Bank, 1420 Highway 431, Anniston, Alabama was robbed at approximately 11:00 a.m. this morning. Two black males wearing ski masks and dark colored clothing entered the bank. One subject vaulted the teller counter, the other remained in the lobby. Both subjects yelled orders to the bank employees. One subject is described as between 6’0” and 6’2” and the other subject is described as between 5’8” and 5’10.” One of the subjects carried a semi automatic handgun. No one was injured during the robbery.

Following the robbery, the subjects left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money in an older model, gray/silver colored Ford LTD. This vehicle was later recovered approximately one half mile from the bank on Saks Road.
