FBI PRESENTS 2007 DIRECTOR’S COMMUNITY
LEADERSHIP AWARD TO ANGELA FISHER-HALL OF THE
BIRMINGHAM CIVIL RIGHTS INSTITUE

Birmingham – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Carmen S. Adams announced that

Angela Fisher-Hall, Vice President of Publications and Special Projects for the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) is the recipient of the 2007 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA). FBI Director Robert Mueller personally presented this award at a press conference this afternoon.

Since 1990, the FBI has recognized individuals and organizations for their efforts in combating crime, drugs and violence in America with the DCLA. Each year, the SAC of each FBI field office selects an individual or organization that has contributed greatly to crime, drug and/or violence prevention in their community.

SAC Adams noted that Mrs. Fisher-Hall’s efforts in organizing and identifying members of the planning committee for the inaugural FBI / BCRI Civil Rights Conference in 2006 contributed substantially to the success of the event.

The conferences are designed to build trust and open the lines of communication between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. The second annual FBI / BCRI Civil Rights conference was held on December 2-3, 2007.

Mrs. Fisher-Hall continues her close partnership with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies in ongoing civil rights education programs. SAC Adams stated: “It is through the efforts of individuals like Mrs. Fisher-Hall that help to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. Angela understands the challenges facing the FBI and law enforcement to enforce the law while protecting the civil rights and civil liberties of everyone.”
