FBI ARRESTS PIEDMONT, ALABAMA MAN FOR THREATS
AGAINST DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS DOCTORS

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Carmen S. Adams announced that Michael Eugene Cook of Piedmont, Alabama was arrested yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:10 p.m. based on a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Birmingham, Alabama on December 5, 2007. The complaint alleges that Cook threatened to kill two U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs doctors.

SAC Adams stated: “After examining the facts, it appeared that Mr. Cook intended to carry out his threats. This is another example of law enforcement partners working together to prevent what could have been a tragic situation.”

SAC Adams expressed her appreciation to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of the Inspector General and the Piedmont Police Department, Piedmont, Alabama for their invaluable assistance.
